Purpose
Compliance with the Ohio Public Records Act and R.C. Section 149.43 involves providing prompt inspection of public records and supplying copies of these records within a reasonable period upon request.
Policy
The Board's policy is to maintain public records in accordance with the definitions provided by Revised Code, Sections 149.011 and 149.43, as mandated by State and Federal law. The Board shall provide access to all public records to any member of the general public, with the exception of those records deemed exempt under R.C. 149.43 and 149.433, in compliance with State and Federal law.
The Ohio Public Records Act is extensive and has many exceptions. Each year, the Ohio Attorney General in cooperation with the State Auditor publishes the
Ohio Sunshine Laws: An Open Government Resource Manual.
